Appointments are required; call 410-543-7069. Friday, August 3 Safe Sitter Class. 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. $50. Avery W. Hall Educational Center, Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury. Safe Sitter is a medically accurate one-day course that teaches young men and women ages 11-14 how to handle emergencies when caring for young children. Maryland law states that you must be 13 years of age to babysit. Safe Sitters learn basic life-saving techniques, safety precautions to prevent accidents, how and when to summon help, and tips on basic child care. Hall Educational Center, Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.  4-7 p.m. $40. An American Heart Association course offered through Peninsula Regional Medical Center’s Education Department, this 3-hour non-certification course is designed to teach rescuers how to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants and how to help an adult, child, or infant who is choking. This course is designed for healthcare professionals whose careers require a course completion card, such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician’s assistants, medical or nursing students, aides, medical or nursing assistants, and other allied health personnel. It teaches the skills and critical concepts of high-quality CPR and use of the AED for victims of all ages. Other skills taught include 1-rescuer and 2-rescuer CPR, bag-mask ventilation and relief of choking.
