As a family-centered Medical Center, we celebrate one of the most joyous occasions as we assist in the birth of a baby. In fact, more than 2,000 babies are born into our community at Peninsula Regional each year. With maternity services dedicated to the entire family unit, our professional staff can address the family's complete medical, personal and emotional needs.

In 2010, Peninsula Regional launched a collaboration with Children's National Health System in Washington, D.C. Children's National pediatric hospitalists (hospital-based pediatricians) and neonatologists (physicians specializing in treating premature and sick babies) are now available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and every day of the year at PRMC.

Those doctors work closely with the Medical Center's outstanding clinical teams to provide patient-centered, family-first care in Peninsula Regional's Pediatric Unit and Special Care Nursery and are close by for consultation on any pediatric illnesses or injuries needing immediate attention in PRMC's Emergency/Trauma Center.

On our Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby Units, we provide family-centered care, where mothers and babies share the same room and nurse. Lactation consultation services are also offered.  Call 410-543-4790 for Labor & Delivery tour information.

Childbirth classes, breastfeeding and newborn care are all taught by experienced staff members. Check our Classes and Events section for upcoming offerings. For those who can't attend in person, we offer an interactive e-learning course that allows you to learn at your own pace and convenience from any computer or mobile device.
