We find that preparation, education, continuity of care and pre-planned discharges are essential for the best outcomes.  This important preparation starts with your pre-admission visit.  During your pre-admission visit you will complete a tour, attend joint class and work with a navigator to plan your after-hospital care.

Several times each week pre-admission visits are held to help prepare patients for their joint replacement surgery. You will be contacted by the Joint Replacement Navigation Program prior to your surgery to schedule this appointment. During your pre-admission visit you will:

  • Take a pre-operative joint replacement class
  • Have a navigation meeting to plan your discharge
  • Get your pre-admission testing done

You are strongly encouraged to bring your coach with you to your pre-admission visit. It will help your coach learn more about his or her role throughout your recovery. If you have questions about this appointment, please contact the Joint Navigator at 410-912-6018.
