Peninsula Regional Medical Center has spent the better part of the past year preparing for the National Folk Festival the weekend of September 6, 7 and 8 in Downtown Salisbury, as the event is literally “at our doorstep” and adjacent to our campus.

We are again proud to be sponsoring the PRMC Stage (old Daily Times lot) on East Carroll Street for performances throughout the weekend.  With that comes the possibility of thousands of people around the perimeter of our hospital.

We want to assure you that we are taking every precaution to ensure your safety and to make getting in and out of our campus as hassle free as possible.  However, due to the sheer volume of people, please expect possible delays reaching or exiting our campus.

Here are some things to consider if visiting us event weekend:

  1. We are keeping our Visitor Garage, Parking Garage B, open for VISITOR/PATIENT PARKING ONLY.  We will be restricting access to the Visitor Garage to the entrance near Volunteer Services.  Members of our Special Police Force will be on site to assist you with your parking needs.  The Visitor Garage is located off Vine Street near our Hanna Outpatient Center and Emergency/Trauma Center.
  2. Because of the pedestrian and vehicle congestion, all inpatients, except our Mother/Baby patients, will be discharged through the Hanna Outpatient Center entrance, which is located very close to the Visitor Garage.  Our Mother/Baby discharges will happen at our Same Day Surgery/Labor and Delivery entrance on Vine Street near the intersection of Business 13 and Vine.
  3. We encourage anyone visiting to approach our campus from the south, and to enter on Vine Street from either Waverly Drive or Business 13.  Expect heavier than normal traffic and delays in reaching or exiting our campus, even from the south, but particularly from the north and west.
  4. Our Guerrieri Heart & Vascular Institute parking lot on East Carroll Street will be open and designated for heart patient visitors only.  Our Special Police will also be assisting at this lot to ensure that only those visitors will be parking there.
  5. Although East Carroll Street will be open, expect considerable traffic as the Folk Festival will be using that street as a major transportation route. Please consider parking in our Visitor Garage to avoid the congestion.
  6. Additional Special Police officers will be on campus this weekend assisting with not only the regular business of the hospital but also with festival safety, parking and other concerns.
  7. Officers will also be monitoring entrances to our buildings to control unnecessary access.
  8. Our Emergency Operations Center will be in “stand by” mode and opened if necessary.
  9. Our regular visiting hours of 8AM to 8PM will remain in effect.
