Congenital heart defects are the most common birth defect in the United States occurring in nearly 1% of all births.
Mended Hearts of Delmarva Chapter 221 is now forming a Mended Little Hearts Chapter, which will become the first support group of its kind in Maryland. The purpose is to provide Delmarva parents a forum for those families who are coping with serious psychological and emotional stress while caring for their children with congenital heart defects.
An organizational meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 13 at 6:00 p.m. in the Seminar Room of the Avery W. Hall Educational Center at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Pediatric cardiologist, Roger Ruckman, MD of Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC will be the guest speaker.
