Peninsula Regional Medical Center - Part of Peninusula Regional Health System
Transitional Care Unit

In 2006, Consumer Reports and ConsumerReports.org placed the TCU at Peninsula Regional Medical Center on their Nursing Home Quality Monitor “consider” list for providing higher-quality care in the state of Maryland. The TCU was one of just nine centers in Maryland to earn the designation of “Best 10 Percent” of all centers examined by Consumer Reports.

The Transitional Care Unit (TCU) at Peninsula Regional Medical Center bridges the gap between acute inpatient hospitalization and home. In this unit, patients participate in rehabilitation and receive monitoring or skilled nursing care as necessary.

Patients focus on achieving independence prior to returning home. The staff encourages the patient to be out of bed during the day to facilitate the transition.

The TCU's philosophy of care focuses on wellness. Our staff strives to make every resident feel comfortable with a warm, home-like atmosphere, recreational activities and social programs.
