Our Commitment to Surgical Excellence

Over 13,000 surgical procedures are performed each year at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in state-of-the-art operating rooms.

Our “patient first” philosophy is coupled with clinical excellence as noted by a recent five star rating in joint replacement and prostate surgery by HealthGrades, the nation's leading health care ratings company.  It’s the commitment to excellence by each member of the team that makes this happen.

Patient safety is at the forefront of our care and is of the highest importance.  Peninsula Regional Medial Center ensures the availability of state-of-the-art equipment needed by our surgeons, including minimally invasive, daVinci Surgical Robot assisted surgery.

Dr. Un Chin, Trauma Surgeon, stated in a recent article in our publication HealthFocus, "What makes Peninsula Regional so special is the Medical Center's commitment to state-of-the-art technology-exactly the same as you will find in operating rooms at the nation's major tertiary referral centers like Johns Hopkins and the University of Maryland."

Dr. Kurt Wehberg, one of our open heart surgeons, stated in that same issue of HealthFocus, "As an international trainer for the TMR heart procedure, I have had the opportunity to travel the globe.  The technology here at Peninsula Regional Medical Center rivals anything I have ever seen anywhere in the world for cardiac surgery."

At Peninsula Regional approximately 600 open heart surgeries will be performed this year.  Information can be found at http://www.cvsurgical.net/

Our vascular surgeons are performing endoscopic vascular procedures.  We are scheduled to open our new state-of-the-art endovascular operating suite in 2008.

Drs. Michael Sofronski and Daniel McCullough will perform more than 400 bariatric surgical procedures at Peninsula Regional Medical Center this year.  These two surgeons have been recognized for their outstanding results.  Information can be found at http://www.delmarvabariatric.com/.
