The Laboratory at Peninsula Regional Medical Center provides a full spectrum of clinical pathology testing (Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, Drug Testing), anatomic pathology (Surgical Pathology and Cytology) and transfusion service.

We utilize Mayo Clinic Reference Laboratory Services for any esoteric reference testing not done on site.  Our blood supplier is the Blood Bank of Delmarva.

College of American Pathologists Accredited
Peninsula Regional’s Laboratory is among an elite group of 6,000 laboratories that have been awarded accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) for the "excellence of service provided."

The CAP designation has been continuously awarded to the Peninsula Regional Laboratory for over 30 years. Every two years the inspectors, on site, examine the records and quality control of the Laboratory, as well as the education and qualifications of the staff, the adequacy of the facilities, the equipment, Laboratory safety and Laboratory management.

In addition to its American Society of Clinical Pathology certified technical staff, the Laboratory is staffed by six board-certified pathologists.
