Meet The Dietitians


Dietetics is the branch of therapeutics concerned with the practical application of diet in relation to health and disease. It is the science and art of applying the principles of nutrition to feeding.

The registered dietitians at Peninsula Regional Medical Center assist the physicians in caring for the patients by monitoring nutritional status and recommending medical nutrition therapy to aid the patient in recovery. The registered dietitian may also work with the patient to make lifestyle changes in food choices to self-manage their health.

Each clinical dietitian is a registered dietitian and Maryland licensed. They are assisted by dietetic technicians who have degrees in dietetics or human nutrition.

Carol Giampietro
Clinical Nutrition Manager

Carol first joined Peninsula Regional Medical Center in 2004 as a clinical dietitian with national board certification in nutrition support (CNSC). Carol earned her BS in Nutrition and Dietetics and her MA in Nutrition Education from Immaculata University in Pennsylvania. She came to us with more than 15 years of experience and primarily cared for those patients in our critical care areas. In November 2014, Carol accepted the position of Clinical Nutrition Manager at PRMC. Although she has moved into a supervisory/managerial role, you will occasionally see her participating in multidisciplinary patient care rounds or visiting patients.

 

Grace Wilson

Grace joined PRMC in 1989 as a Clinical Dietitian. Her educational background includes a BS in Food and Nutrition from Adventist University of the Philippines and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Dietetics from Loma Linda University in California. She provides Medical Nutrition Therapy primarily in ICU and CTICU. Grace is a Registered Dietitian and is Maryland Licensed as a Dietitian-Nutritionist.

 

Tamara Giles

Tamara graduated from Howard University in 2005 with a BS in Nutritional Science. She joined the clinical staff of PRMC in 2005. Along with varied responsibilities, she cares for our youngest patients in the neonatal intensive care unit. She is a Registered Dietitian and is Maryland licensed as a Dietitian Nutritionist.

 

Julie Butters

Julie joined PRMC in December of 2013 as a Registered Dietitian.  She received her BS in dietetics and completed her dietetic internship at University of Delaware. Julie mainly provides medical nutrition therapy to patients in the progressive care unit and surgical patients. She is Registered Dietitian and a Maryland licensed Dietitian-Nutritionist.

 

Katie Dorsch

Katie joined PRMC as a Registered Dietitian in June of 2014. She received her BS in dietetics from the University of Northern Colorado and completed her dietetic internship at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. She provides medical nutrition therapy to patients in the Cancer Center as well as cardiac patients. Katie is a Registered Dietitian and a Maryland licensed Dietitian-Nutritionist.
