Billing Information


Your Medical Center Bill
Peninsula Regional Medical Center will bill all the insurance companies you provide at registration.  
Once payment is received from the insurance company, the Medical Center will bill you for any remaining balance.  You may also receive separate bills from other health providers.  See our Frequently Asked Questions  section.

 

Medical Center Bills and Insurance
It is important for you to understand the terms of your insurance coverage.  Health insurance providers may have special requirements, such as a second surgical opinion or pre-certification requirements, before your admission.  If the plan requirements are not followed, you could be held financially responsible for all or part of the services received in the Medical Center. 

On-Line Bill Payment
You may use your MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or American Express card to pay your portion of the Medical Center bill through a secure website.

Health Services Cost Review Commission (HSCRC)
Rates at Maryland hospitals are regulated by a state agency known as the HSCRC.  Unlike other states, in Maryland patients pay the same rate as insurance companies.  Each hospital is assigned its own rate by the HSCRC and the hospital may not discount those rates to insurance companies or to patients.  The HSCRC allows for a 2 percent discount if you pay your bill at the time of discharge or a 1 percent discount if you pay your bill within 30 days.

If You Do Not Have Insurance
Payment is due at the time of discharge.  Our financial counselors will discuss financial arrangements with you or will assist you in applying for Medical Assistance or investigate other programs that may assist you with your obligation.

If You Are Unable to Pay Your Bill
Peninsula Regional Medical Center provides free, or reduced cost, on non-elective care to those in the community who are financially eligible for its financial assistance program.  In order for Peninsula Regional to determine eligibility a patient must complete a financial assistance form.
